It's Getting Windy in Here

It's been official for two weeks, but now I'll make it public to the world (ie. those two people who sometimes accidentally stumble across this blog):

I'm relocating to Chicago in October!

I was offered a position there at one of our headquarters of another division, and it was (almost too easily) approved by my current division, so all is set. Since they're taking me in as of November 1st, the whole deal with extending my stay in Germany until the end of the year was cancelled and I plan on leaving mid-October as per my contract.

I still have 23 vacation days that I need to try to use until then. I can't take them with me, but they mentioned it would be possible to have the remaining paid out. Regardless, I'll be taking the last few weeks in October off for the relocation.

Anywho, I couldn't be happier with how things worked out. It was almost a year ago when I made the decision that I wanted to return to Chicago after my stint in Europe concludes, and after expressing this wish to the many powers-that-be over the past year, it has been granted. What can I say? I'm a happy guy, and am very excited to not only head back to the US, but to a great city, which was my first (and really only) preference.

How 'bout a drink to celebrate?!?

I'll take you up on that drink come the evening of September 3rd... and with all the vacation payout, you are most certainly buying... ;-)
